The guys in the National are showing off their true Dead Head nature.  Guitarist Bryce Dessner tells "Billboard" they're working on a tribute album to the Grateful Dead that will also feature contributions from a number of other bands.

The project - dubbed "Dead Hot" - has actually been in the works since 2011, but Dessner hopes to have it ready to put out next year.  It will mark his second Dead tribute album following 2009's "Dark Was the Night," which he produced along with his brother and National bandmate, Aaron Dessner.

In the meantime, the indie rockers have a new album of their own in stores now.  "Trouble Will Find Me" arrived last month, and reached number three on the Billboard 200 album chart.
