Former Guns N' Roses bassist Duff McKagan is returning to the fold -- temporarily. The rocker has been tapped to join his ex-bandmates for a series of South American shows this month to fill in for bassist Tommy Stinson.
Stinson tells Billboard.com he appreciates McKagan's willingness to cover for him. He explains that he was already committed to a Replacements reunion when GNR's South American dates cropped up, but he didn't want his unavailability to mess up Guns' plans. Tommy says they're fortunate that "someone was able to reach out to Duff and he was amenable to the idea." He adds that he thinks fans "are gonna be really stoked about it."
McKagan will play five shows with Guns N' Roses, starting in Buenos Aires, Argentina this Sunday. He's also on board for dates in Paraguay on April 9th and Bolivia on April 12th. Duff will wrap up his stint with shows in Brazil on April 15th and 17th.
Stinson will resume his role as GNR's bass player with their show in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania on May 13th.
